Spring flower brooch.

Hi, I have just finished the last spring embroidered brooch. This brooch was based on another painting of mine. I love the colours of this embroidery. I used a beautiful green silk fabric to compliment the flowers.

Embroidered hyacinth, freesia and pansy flowers.

Hi Nice peaceful half term here. I have completed a brooch based on a watercolour painting by myself. The flowers were lovely to embroider and such beautiful colours. I have used a range of spring greens in this design. I had to adapt the design to fit a circular format but I think overall it has worked well.

Embroidered Daffodils and Snowdrops.

Hi, I have completed another brooch/pin in hand embroidery. I thought because the weather is cold at the moment it would be lovely to design a brooch of spring flowers that are blooming in our gardens and in our hedgerows. There are beautiful clumps of snowdrops that we see on our walks in the morning. Their flower heads gently nod in the breeze. It was this feeling of new growth that I was trying to capture in this embroidery.

Embroidered brooch

Hi, This year is flying by and I have been busy knitting a jumper for myself. I have also stitched a brooch based on a painting of the young Elizabeth I. I hadn't stitched skin before and it was a little bit challenging. I am pleased with the final results. Being primarily a painter, I like to embroider as if each stitch is a stroke of the paint brush which allows me to add shading and changes of tone where I think it is needed. This was fun to sew and I think it makes an unusual brooch. I loved adding the beads.
